'The Admiral' is a fictional story created from smithereens of factual occurrences.

The essentials of grooming officers, sailor and orient them to progressively prepare them for maritime duties in multifarious vertical specialisations.
Unity of participation, team spirit through standard operating procedures (SOPs), the foundation pivot of serving on Warships, Aircraft & Submarines.
Another dimension is sea lane security to ensure freedom of sea trade of India as well other ships flying foreign flags. Imperatives of surveillance of our Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and territorial waters.
Emotional aspects of family life, the sturdy resolve of wives, children, family elders and spouses. The author, a naval veteran aspires to bring home the sacred essence of what the Ocean is for India and its people through this first story of a trilogy.

Veteran Barry Bharathan has survived 40 years in the silent service due to luck, timing and placement. Forgiving bosses, tolerant peers, supporting subordinates aided by understanding spouse and loving son, have enabled him to remain upright with nose above the water and feet on the ground.
The postings he enjoyed were command of an Anti-Submarine Helicopter squadron, a patrol frigate, guided missile destroyer, Indian Naval attaché to USA, Flag Officer Sea Training, Flag Officer Naval Aviation and Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet.
He is a graduate of the Defence Services Staff College, India, & Naval War College, Rhode Island, USA.
He retired 20 years ago. For him, his serving in the Indian Navy, alongside his spouse Mrs Rina Bharathan and being cared for by his son Rishi Bharathan and the whole Navy and personal family are providential gifts with prayerful blessings of his parents.
