“My Pak Diary: 16 April - 16 August 2025” is a very timely and short compilation on understanding the Pak psyche and how, under General Asim Munir, it has metamorphased into an attitude of a rabid dog that has been unleashed, after the removal of the restrictions of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), which had imposed increased international scrutiny, negative economic consequences, and reputational harm to Pakistan. Maj Gen Jayan has very articulately brought out the contribution of his late father in imbuing him with the habit of reading and analyzing world events. This comes out starkly as the author begins with Munir's acrimonious speech of April 16, 2025, in Islamabad, from where he moves on to “Shatrubodh” (enemy recognition). Thereafter, he has very eloquently navigated through the Munir sponsored Pahalgam attack on 22nd April 2025, Operation SINDOOR which was a fitting response to Pakistan's latest edition of it's proxy war tactics, the military diplomatic efforts of Bharat which brought Pakistan to its knees and the fact that Bharat could expect many such Pak sponsored attacks in the future as well, given the warning of ties now between the US and Pakistan. An absolute unputdownable book!

Maj Gen Balakrishnan Jayan's “My Pak Diary: 16 April - 16 August 2025” is a compelling blend of personal loss and strategic insight. Beginning with his father's death, the author transforms grief into a diary of national importance, detailing events from April to August 2025. He analyses Gen Asim Munir's provocative rhetoric, the Pahalgam pogrom, and India's sharp response via Operation SINDOOR, showcasing indigenous precision and strategic clarity.
The book links military events with civilizational wisdom, exploring Shatrubodh—enemy regognition—to illuminate Pakistan's military mindset and its threats to South Asia. Rich in historical and contemporary insights, it offers a profound reflection on duty, truth, and resilience, standing as more than a military account—it is a scholarly yet heartfelt tribute to India' courage and strategic maturity.

On 16th April 2025, the author lost his dear father, his first Guru and guide to the world of knowledge and reflection. His father's life lessons, reading the newspaper daily, staying connected with the world, and learning from life itself had profoundly shaped the author's understanding of humanity and nationhood. As he reminisced about his father, a chance viewing of Gen Munir's speech at the Overseas Pakistani Convention on the same day disturbed him deeply. The revival of the two-nation theory and the divisive rhetoric in that speech appeared ominous.
Days later, on 22nd April 2025, the horrific Pahalgam massacre, where 26 innocent tourists were killed by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists, shook Bharat and the world. In anguish and anger, the author began documenting his reflections and analyses in My Pak Diary, spanning 50 days from 17th April to 4th June 2025.
The diary chronicles Gen Munir's ideology, Pakistan's collective mindset—Shatrubodh and the unfolding events that led to India's decisive response: Operation SINDOOR on 7th May 2025. Within minutes, nine terror bases were eliminated, and India demonstrated both restraint and resolve. Pakistan's retaliatory failures and India's strategic dominance redefined South Asia's geopolitical discourse.
The narrative concludes with India's vindication through evidence, diplomacy, and valor, affirming Bharat's arrival on the global stage. The book is a personal tribute and national chronicle, born of loss, reflection, and truth.
