Operation Kaveri was an audacious rescue operation which succeeded in evacuating thousands of stranded Indians from Sudan.  This country was not in the area of responsibility of the Defence Attaché in Riyadh; however, it was executed flawlessly. Having been the Defence Attache, in Riyadh, myself in the late 1990's I am aware of the labyrinth of MENA region geopolitics —the fragile alliances, proxy conflicts, and human suffering, amid conflict.
