The book “Battle of Jubar Ridge in Batalik Sector” gives a detailed account of how the infantry battalions committed in counter insurgency (CI) operations were pulled out without notice and inducted into super high altitude terrain without acclimatisation and wherewithal to fight a specialised war. How the senior commanders failed to appreciate the ground realities in their preconceived hangovers and pressurised infantry battalions to clear the intrusion at the earliest. The book is a brief account of valour and sacrifices of the young officers and men of our Army who fought bravely in the face of all odds and made supreme sacrifices in successfully throwing the intruders across the Line of Control. The author was commanding 1 BIHAR in CI operations in the Valley when he received sudden orders to move to Dras and later to Batalik to evict the enemy from Jubar Ridge. He has given his personal account and experience of fighting the war under most challenging circumstances.
