Dr. Parveen Yograj is a distinguished General Surgeon and physician with over four decades of service in healthcare. A graduate and postgraduate of Government Medical College, Jammu, he has built a career defined by clinical excellence, compassionate patient care, and an unwavering commitment to public health. His journey began in the rural and border regions of Jammu & Kashmir. The experiences shaped his resilience, clinical acumen, and deep sense of duty. He later served with distinction for nearly two decades as Physician to the Chief Ministers of Jammu & Kashmir, gaining invaluable experience in delivering high-responsibility medical care at the highest levels of governance. Alongside his clinical work, Dr. Yograj held several key administrative positions of great public health significance. As District Immunization Officer, Rajouri, he played a pivotal role in strengthening immunization services in a difficult hilly terrain. Notably, during the COVID-19 vaccination drive that commenced on January 16, 2021, Rajouri emerged as a remarkable success story achieving effective vaccine delivery—During the COVID-19 pandemic, he further served as Divisional Nodal Officer, National Health Mission, J&K, contributing significantly to coordinated pandemic response, strategic planning, and healthcare delivery across the region.
He culminated his distinguished government service as Medical Superintendent, Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, where his leadership led to notable improvements in healthcare services, institutional strengthening, and national recognition. He also holds the unique distinction of being the first healthcare worker in India to receive the COVID-19 vaccine on January 16, 2021. He was conferred the Best Medical Superintendent of the Year Award (2024) at Jaipur on National Doctor’s Day, and the Lifetime Achievement Award in Healthcare on October 18, 2024, at New Delhi.Even after retirement, Dr. Yograj continues active clinical practice, mentoring young doctors.
